Teen Issues

TEEN HEALTHCARE

Healthcare! Wealthcare?
Do Teens care about their share of HEALTHCARE?

They will if they have an ill and prescribed a pill.
Insurance says, "That pill's a frill!"
Asthma, depression, abuse, teen births
Where do I fit in on this earth?

Body changes, hormone rages
HIV, STD, smoking, pimples, braces,
Dieting death, oh so many cases.
So many disgraces.

Who cares about teen healthcare?
Race, rich or poor. Employed or not
Our parents really scurry.
We all deserve the VERY best
Instead of being buried.

Who makes the decisions?
Who casts our fate?
Help take action NOW.
Before it's too late!

Now do you feel more concerned about Healthcare? You will also find some awesome info that will help you understand that the famous food pyramid we all learned in health and science classes is as old and outdated as the real pyramids! Click here. This kind of background info helps to give you the confidence to use your voice. It is important to be SEEN and HEARD in order to feel your full power in a healthy way.

Now what? You can do the EDUCATE YOURSELF ACTION PLAN and tell us what you found out. Talking to other girls, sharing your point of view and listening to what others have to say will help all of us understand each other better. If healthcare depends on your employment or your parents, then looking at the current unemployment rate across the country will help you to understand the huge effect government policy has on your life.

EDUCATE YOURSELF ACTION PLAN

  1. QUESTION: Read up on HEALTHCARE CONCERNS. Click here.
    • Samples: What health issues scare the heck out of you?
    • Do you, as a teen or an adult want privacy about health issues that affect you, family or friends?

  2. LISTEN: Interview yourself, friends, parents/guardians, doctors, nurses, Grandma and Pops. Record your notes.
    • LIFE TIP: When you interview your people be sure to look them right in the eyes.
    • REALLY listen to them. Accept their point of view. They will feel you are concerned with what they have to say which is an awesome feeling for anyone!

  3. FORM your own opinion based on facts, feeling and voices.

  4. ACTION: Discuss what you learned about healthcare and the government. What are your concerns now? Click here.
